The docu-style TV show director is responsible for the overall direction and creative coordination of the show. Throughout the process, the director will hold meetings, both with the crew and clients and work closely with the executive producers to ensure that the story is told, the show is shot correctly, and the show stays within budget. Above all, the TV show director will translate their vision into images and video captured during production. Travel is required.

Translate their vision into images/video captured during production
Hold meetings throughout the process, both with crew and clients
Work closely with executive producers to ensure that the story is told, the show is shot correctly, and the show stays within budget
Craft the visuals of the show, specifically the episode or segment
Write detailed breakdown for each episode
Create a shot list based on the breakdown & scouting photos/notes
Serve as team leader for meetings (both in person and virtually) with partners/clients
Take detailed notes and aligns client’s narrative with TV show’s tone
Work with the production manager to determine scout dates, shoot dates, air dates, and locations.
Structure and capture all assets needed for the episode according to the episodic breakdown and script
Ensure a smooth production
Block all camera angles and movements
Directing crew on lighting the set
Guide the camera operators (usually 2), sound, drone pilot, and grips throughout the shoot
Direct and cue the talent and yell Action! And Cut!
On-set direction; Watching monitor for camera shots
If necessary, making revisions to breakdown and script while on location
Meet with Editor to ensure the episode is cut according to the episode breakdown and script
Get final approval on each completed episode
5+ years of experience in TV show directing
Writing skills a plus
Editing experience is a plus, but not necessary
Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
Must be willing to travel; International travel may be required (passport is needed)
Overtime on a case by case basis
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record
Excellent eye for video composition
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to complete work using Google Suite
