FREELANCE GRIP/PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

Job Description

We are seeking an energetic Grip/Production Assistant. Must be self-motivated and willing to be a part of a small, highly-efficient team. Must be willing to jump in as a grip/utility whenever needed in order to accomplish TV show production on a tight schedule. Travel is required. This position will be a freelance contractor.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assistant to the Camera A & B operators

  • Setting up lights/cameras and other production equipment

  • Coordinate with the Director, Director of Photography (DP), and Field Producer about equipment needs and maintenance

  • Ability to solve unexpected problems in a cool & collected manner in high-pressure environments

 

Production

  • Carrying equipment to and from locations

  • Assemble and disassemble equipment; setting up and striking lights, cameras and other production equipment

  • Assist with blocking the set

  • May need to take notes for director

  • May need to pack and unpack parts of the set

  • Responsible for ordering meals for crew during production

  • Must be able to anticipate what is needed by the videographers, director, or field producer

What We Need:

  • 3+ years of grip experience in video production

  • Drone experience is a plus

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record

  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in a team

  • Must be willing to travel; International travel may be required (passport is needed)

  • In-person work; Overtime on a case-by-case basis

  • Must be collaborative, have excellent communication skills, a team player attitude, patient, and work well under extreme pressure

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance

  • Creative and problem-solving skills
