Anya Reiser Marketing Coordinator

What is your job title, and what does it mean?

I am a Marketing Coordinator and Website Content Writer which means I am in charge of writing and optimizing projects’ marketing copy. I primarily research, curate, optimize, and edit the social media and website content for one of our clients, Tomorrow’s World Today, a show and website that focuses on the innovations and technologies behind living more sustainable lives.

What was your first job?

My first job was coaching soccer to 18 month-year-olds. Suffice to say that there wasn’t too much actual soccer being played!

What has been your favorite project at Flying Cork?

My favorite project has been trying to get the blogs I write to rank for certain keywords on Google. I love that there is no “science” or secret formula to this, making it challenging but especially exciting when I succeed.

Tell us a random fact about you.

I love looking at menus and picking out exactly what I want to eat before I go to the restaurant. Bonus points if I’m going to eat with someone that will do “splitsies” with me!

What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is that I never get bored—I’m truly learning something new every day with our clients. Not only does that keep me on my toes in brainstorming how to market and consult with a wide array of companies, products, and services, but it also makes me a great trivia teammate!

What was the best concert you’ve ever been to?

Paul McCartney, hands down.

What is your most memorable commercial that is not from Flying Cork?

A marketing campaign that sticks out most to me is Apple’s “Music Everyday” commercial advertising the iPhone 5s. It is an incredibly simple, yet effective commercial featuring people listening to music on their iPhone, with friends, family, or alone in a variety of places. The background music gives me chills every time I listen to it, and it proves that you don’t necessarily need a complicated marketing plan to get your point across.

What’s your favorite thing to do in Pittsburgh?

Go for a walk around Schenley Park and then enjoy a breakfast burrito the size of my head at Schenley Plaza.

What is your guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure is watching trashy reality TV—bonus points if it’s British (looking at you, Love Island UK).

What is a Cork Popping Moment you’ve experienced while working at Flying Cork?

A Cork Popping Moment I have had is the website traffic during Tomorrow’s World Today’s 4-Part exploration of Nuclear Science. Having very little prior knowledge of nuclear energy, the task of creating a month’s worth of blog content about the topic was extremely daunting. However, after a great deal of research and the help of numerous nuclear energy experts, the exploration and blogs resulted in the website’s most successful month in all four seasons of the show—now THAT’s a Cork Popping Moment.
