Production Sound Mixer/Grip

Job Description

We are seeking an energetic Production Sound Mixer with Grip/Utility Experience. Must be self-motivated, creative, and willing to be a part of a small, highly-efficient team. Must be willing to jump in as a grip/utility whenever needed in order to accomplish production on a tight schedule. Travel is required.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Choose and prepare audio equipment; Set-up/break down equipment
  • Operate field mixer
  • Consult with Director to determine sound desired
  • Consult with Field Producer to evaluate potential audio-related problems and technical requirements
  • Ability to solve unexpected problems in a cool & collected manner in high pressure environments


  • Recording audio on set, including dialogue, background noise, and room tone.
  • Mix audio in real-time, balancing volume and quality to ensure the audio will work in editing for the final product.
  • Evaluate the quality of audio in each take and ask for retakes as needed.
  • Grip/Utility when needed or directed by the Field Producer or Director of Photography

What We Need:

  • 3+ years of experience in video production; 2+ years as an audio field technician
  • Working knowledge of current broadcast audio standards
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in a team
  • Must be willing to travel; International travel may be required (passport is needed)
  • In-person work; Overtime on a case by case basis
  • Must be collaborative, have excellent communication skills, a team player attitude, and work well under extreme pressure
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
