Camera B Operator

Job Description

We are seeking an energetic Freelance Camera B Operator. Working under the guidance of the director and Director of Photography. Must be self-motivated, creative, and willing to be a part of a small, highly efficient team. Must work effectively with Director/Producer, Field Producer, and Director of Photography (DP). During production, provide support and assistance as needed; Must be a team player. Set-up and breakdown of equipment is required for each shoot. Traveling is required. Availability for pre-production meetings (video or in-person).

What You’ll Be Doing:


  • Coordinate with the Director, Director of Photography (DP), and Field Producer about equipment needs and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with Director and DP on shot list and blocking when requested.


  • Help to map out shots with the DP and ensure they are executed properly
  • Assist with blocking the set
  • Set up and frame the Camera B angles
  • Assisting the DP with the selection and preparation of various equipment that will best serve the moment (lenses, rigs, etc)
  • Daily upload and organization of source material to hard drives
  • May be required to string out the first cut of the video from provided script

What We Need:

  • 5+ years of experience behind the camera
  • Must be willing to travel; International travel may be required (passport is needed)
  • Overtime on a case by case basis
  • Experience with Sony (FX6 or FX9 is a plus) and also GoPro Cameras and Drone shooting is a huge plus
  • Basic editing experience is a plus, but not necessary
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Lighting experience is a must
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record
  • Ensure safety and cleanliness of all equipment used
  • Excellent eye for video composition
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance
