Employee Spotlight: Jeff, Email Marketing Specialist

What is your job title and what does it mean?

I’m an Email Marketing Specialist, which means I am able to manipulate emails to meet the marketing goals that our client has determined.

What is your favorite thing to do in Pittsburgh?

Hit local coffee shops. I like De Fer for the environment, but I think the Delanies and Commonwealth have better coffee.

What is the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

A cable worker.

How has Flying Cork helped with your career development?

From an internship to a full gig, I’ve learned the ins and outs of how to actually be an email marketer. I never had a desire to know marketing; I originally wanted to be a web developer. But, the niche of email marketing has put me in a special category. Email is never going away, so that kind of puts me in my staple, and now I can offer marketing, email marketing, email development, and email design systems.

What is your go-to meal?

Peanut butter and strawberry jelly.

Other than Flying Cork, what is a company that has notable marketing?

I’d have to say Apple. They do a very good job at setting the marketing and design standards throughout all of the tech industry.

What is the best book you’ve ever read?

Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I would say the people. It’s great to be in the environment of a small team where everybody is responsible and reliable for getting their job done.

Dream vacation?

I would love to go to Jerusalem.

What is a cork popping moment you’ve experienced while at Flying Cork?

At the top of my list is our email redesign for a client. We took a very generic email newsletter template and spiced it up to be more unique and actually have some flavor and color to the design.
